Save The Goats

Help Restore the Funds That Kept the Herd Grazing
Campaign Goal: $22,000
When the Carmichael Recreation and Park District was faced with the possibility of losing its targeted grazing program due to budget constraints, an important wildfire prevention resource for our community was suddenly at risk.
Rather than watch the program disappear, the Carmichael Parks Foundation stepped forward and committed $21,450 in emergency funding to keep the goats grazing in Carmichael's parks and open spaces.
Because of that decision, the goats arrived this year.
Today, we're asking the community to help restore those funds so the Foundation can continue investing in parks, recreation, environmental stewardship, and community projects that benefit everyone in Carmichael.
Why Goats?

These aren't just goats: they're hardworking members of Carmichael's wildfire prevention team. And you will see sheep too hard at work!
Through targeted grazing, goats naturally remove dry grasses, weeds, and brush that can become fuel during fire season. They provide an environmentally friendly, effective solution for managing vegetation in areas that can be difficult for traditional equipment to access.

Their work helps:
🔥 Reduce wildfire risk
🌿 Remove excess vegetation naturally
🏡 Protect nearby homes and neighborhoods
🌳 Preserve parks, trails, and open spaces
🌎 Reduce reliance on herbicides and heavy machinery
❤️ Keep Carmichael beautiful and resilient
Community-Saved. Community-Supported.
The Carmichael Parks Foundation believed these goats—and the protection they provide—were simply too valuable to lose. By investing emergency funding, the Foundation ensured the program could continue while a long-term solution was explored.
Now we're inviting the community to join us in restoring those funds and celebrating what can happen when Carmichael works together.
The community helped save the goats. Now let's help restore the funds that made it possible.
Follow the Herd
The goat grazing program is currently working hard to reduce vegetation and wildfire fuel loads at locations including:
🐐 Schweitzer Grove Nature Area
🐐 Sutter-Jensen Community Park
🐐 Jensen Botanical Garden
🐐 Jan Park
Every acre grazed helps create a safer, healthier, and more resilient community.
(See our Goat Grazing Map below to follow where the herd has worked.)

Where Your Donation Goes
The Carmichael Parks Foundation invested $21,450 in emergency funding to preserve the goat grazing program for 2026.
Our fundraising goal is $22,000, which allows us to fully recover the investment while helping offset campaign and processing expenses.
All donations received through this campaign go directly to the Carmichael Parks Foundation, the official 501c3 nonprofit of Carmichael Recreation and Park District to help recoup the funds diverted to preserve the grazing program.
Restoring these funds allows the Foundation to continue supporting:
🌳 Park improvements and beautification projects
🏀 Youth recreation programs and scholarships
🎨 Community events and enrichment activities
🌿 Environmental stewardship initiatives
❤️ Future projects that enhance Carmichael parks and public spaces
Every dollar stays local. No gift is too small. Every contribution helps.
If We Exceed Our Goal
Any funds raised beyond the $22,000 campaign goal will remain with the Carmichael Parks Foundation and be used to support future park improvements, environmental stewardship projects, recreation opportunities, scholarships, and community programs throughout Carmichael.
Thank You
When a valuable community resource was at risk, the Carmichael Parks Foundation stepped forward.
Now we're inviting residents, businesses, and community partners to help us finish the job.
